Abu Dhabi Sports Facilities See Key Updates This Week

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed inaugurated Abu Dhabi's largest sports facility in Al Bahia, featuring over 200 training equipment units and specialized jiu-jitsu training. The Tolerance Oval at Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub received full ICC day/night accreditation, becoming the fourth international cricket venue in the UAE.

Al Bahia Facility Opening

The new venue in Al Bahia provides residents with immediate access to extensive training resources. Local athletes can now use the equipment for daily sessions in a dedicated space that supports multiple disciplines including jiu-jitsu. This addition strengthens options near established neighbourhoods in the capital.

Tolerance Oval Accreditation

The Tolerance Oval at Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub received full ICC day/night accreditation. It joins other venues as the fourth international cricket site in the UAE and marks the first location worldwide with two such accredited ovals. Teams gain extended hours for matches and practice under lights.

Further Hub Developments

A new 50-meter Olympic-sized swimming pool and a 400m world athletics standard running track are under construction at Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub. The site will also host five Olympic sports clubs once complete. These elements expand training capacity across swimming and track events.

Hudayriyat Island Expansion

Hudayriyat Island's 321 Sports hub expanded with the Middle East's largest indoor sports dome. Added facilities cover football, rugby, cricket, tennis and padel alongside a semi-Olympic pool. Players in these sports gain year-round indoor options on the island.

Al Mushrif Community Center

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council launched a new community sports center in Al Mushrif. It includes two separate fitness clubs, padel courts and a multi-purpose indoor gym on a 3,000-square-meter plot. Residents in the area can use the courts and gym for regular fitness activities.

Al Jazira Stadium Plans

A new 24,000-seater air-conditioned stadium for Al Jazira Club is scheduled for construction in Zayed City starting in 2026, with completion expected in 2029. Once open, the venue will support club matches and larger events in the western part of the city.
