Abu Dhabi Schools Launch Free Sports Championship With Extended Facility Access

The sixth edition of the Abu Dhabi Sports Championship for Schools & Universities runs from October 2026 to May 2027 and covers 19 sports with new additions including Rugby, Padel and Wrestling. Registration remains open at no cost for public, private and charter schools in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra.

Free Entry Opens Doors for Broader Participation

Schools across the emirate can enter teams without paying registration or competition fees. The program reaches public, private and charter institutions in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra, allowing students from different backgrounds to take part in organised sport. International high schools such as CIS, AISA and RISGC already field varsity squads through ADISSA leagues in Swimming, Touch Rugby, Basketball, Volleyball, Football and Triathlon.

Active Hub Extends School Facilities to Families

The Abu Dhabi Sports Council operates the Active Hub program at 23 schools, 13 of them located in Abu Dhabi. Facilities stay open after official hours so students and families can practise athletics, football and swimming. This arrangement turns existing school venues into community resources without requiring new construction.

Three-Season Calendar Supports Year-Round Play

High school athletics programs divide the year into Fall, Winter and Spring seasons. Teams compete locally against other international schools in the Dubai and Abu Dhabi regions. The structure gives athletes regular matches while the championship provides an additional multi-sport pathway from October 2026 through May 2027.
