Abu Dhabi Builds 24,000-Seat Stadium, Domes, Pools Across Three Districts
New domes, pools, tracks and a 24,000-seat stadium are taking shape as construction timelines align with local club needs.
How we reported this

Abu Dhabi's sports infrastructure is gaining a large indoor dome on Hudayriyat Island and a fully air-conditioned 24,000-seat stadium in Zayed City within the same multi-year window.
The additions arrive as existing venues receive international status and community sites open on smaller plots. Local clubs and residents now have more options for year-round training without relying on outdoor heat or distant facilities.
Facility upgrades already under way
Hudayriyat Island's 321 Sports hub now includes the largest indoor sports dome in the Middle East and Africa, complete with FIFA-approved football and rugby pitches, padel courts and a semi-Olympic pool. The Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub is adding a 50-metre Olympic-sized swimming pool and a 400-metre world-standard athletics track while becoming the base for five Olympic sports clubs. Tolerance Oval received full ICC accreditation as a day/night venue, making it the fourth international cricket stadium in the UAE able to host T20 and One-Day International matches.
The Abu Dhabi Sports Council opened a new community sports centre in Al Mushrif on a 3,000-square-metre site that includes separate fitness clubs, padel courts and a multi-purpose indoor gym. These sites sit within established Abu Dhabi districts and serve both competitive athletes and casual users.
Timeline for the next major build
Construction on the new 24,000-seat stadium for Al Jazira Club in Zayed City is scheduled to start in 2026 and reach completion in 2029. The venue will be fully air-conditioned. Residents can track progress through club announcements and council updates while using the expanded Hudayriyat and Al Mushrif sites in the meantime. Local teams and schools are already booking the new domes and courts through existing registration channels listed on the Abu Dhabi Sports Council site.
