Frieze Abu Dhabi will host its first edition under the London-based organizer in November 2026 after the annual Abu Dhabi Art fair adopted the new name.

Venues and Recent Openings on Saadiyat Island
Louvre Abu Dhabi opened in 2017 as the first universal museum in the Arab world and continues to anchor the district alongside the Zayed National Museum, which opened in December 2025. The Natural History Museum operates on the same island, and the Frank Gehry-designed Guggenheim Abu Dhabi remains under construction. Manarat Al Saadiyat functions as a hub for rotating art, culture and entertainment programs that feed directly into the larger district calendar.
Qasr Al Hosn, the city's oldest stone building, operates as a museum that links historic architecture with contemporary programming. These sites sit within a compact area that also includes The Art Gallery at NYU Abu Dhabi, which hosts rotating exhibitions.
Performance Traditions and Current Programming
Traditional Emirati forms such as Al-Ayyala drum and bamboo cane dance, Al-Azi poetic community performance and Al-Taghrooda improvised Bedouin poetry appear regularly on the local arts calendar. These elements sit alongside newer events including the Mini Urban Art Zone at Yas Mall, which runs interactive workshops, and the third-year Taste of Abu Dhabi food festival that incorporates live entertainment.
