More than 280 participants completed the 5km course at Al Mushrif Central Park on the most recent Saturday morning.
Abu Dhabi’s active wellness scene has expanded outdoor options as residents seek routines that avoid midday heat. Parkrun events, held every Saturday at 7 a.m., give locals a structured way to exercise without gym fees or memberships. The timing aligns with cooler early hours before temperatures climb above 40 degrees Celsius in July.
Al Mushrif Central Park on 17th Street remains the busiest site, with wide paths and shaded sections that accommodate larger groups. Runners also meet at Khalifa Park near the intersection of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street and 15th Street, where the course loops around fountains and open lawns. Both venues offer free parking and nearby water fountains, and volunteers mark the route each week.
Local data shows 512 people registered for Abu Dhabi parkruns as of June 2026, up from 340 the previous year. Average finishing times hover around 28 minutes, and the events remain free for all ages. Organisers record results through a simple barcode system that participants scan at the finish.
New runners should arrive 15 minutes early to register on the parkrun app or website. Bring a reusable water bottle and wear light clothing suited to the humidity. After the run, many participants gather for coffee at nearby cafés on 17th Street or inside Khalifa Park. Check the official parkrun UAE page for any last-minute changes due to weather before heading out.
